MicroVision SHOWWX+ Laser Pocket Projector

Huddling around a tiny screen is a common occurrence today as we begin to carry more and more of our critical files and applications around with us in our pocket. For some, the only way to share information from one of these devices is by tethering it to a larger screen or computer. Unfortunately, this isn’t always an option, as you may not have this equipment nearby when you need to share something important.

Enter the MicroVision SHOWWX+, a portable projector that fits in your pocket and sends video directly from your iPhone or any other HDMI-enabled device to the nearest surface.

The 480p WVGA (848 × 480) projection is sent out using laser technology that remains in focus, no matter the angle or distance of the surface where you’re displaying the image. This projected image can scale anywhere from a few inches to over 200 inches at a 1:1 throw ratio. With a brightness of 15 lumens, this isn’t an optimal projector for bright environments typically found in offices, but the laser projection should look crisp with the lights dimmed or turned off.

The MicroVision SHOWWX+ is HDCP compliant, and works out of the box to stream media on iOS with TV-OUT functionality including Netflix, Keynote, and the iPod player. It is capable of streaming from just about any device with 480p support on an HDMI output, so use isn’t limited to a single platform or device. You could, in a pinch, use it to stream from your laptop or tablet computer, as well.

Over all, the MicroVision SHOWWX+ is a great tool for corporate users that are constantly on the go. Arming your sales team or technical staff with devices like these could greatly simplify and speed up the meeting process and avoid lengthy troubleshooting issues commonly associated with normal projectors. As MicroVision says, this device may help you escape that uncomfortable huddle next time you want to show someone something on your phone.
